He was miserable, gay and being suffocated by the grip of his father's religiousness. Sal Fisher- the new kid in town, the exact thing Travis hated. Gay and transgender, on the outside happy with his life. On the inside, dying from a heart disease and living with a verbally abusive alcoholic father. Both were miserable, though it was hardly obvious to outsiders. They were polar opposites yet the exact same. Brought together by the very same religiousness that was slowly killing them, the two are at first enemies. Though after growing together, they make a decision. They were going to run away.
