On a hunting patrol, Stagpaw was stopped cold by a sharp, searing pain that clamped around his leg like the jaws of a wolf. The beginning of his end. 

Then, an omen - one faked by a relative of his, forcing him into the life of a healer. A life he was never meant to lead. 

A series of rash decisions left Stagcry deep in love and grief, swirling together to create the perfect storm. One of his deepest secrets, one known solely by those he's closest to, gets out and ends up in the paws of a cat who was never meant to know. Working alongside two others, this cat begins to plot Stagcry's downfall.

But the murder of one of the trio sends the cat thrumming with fury. And the now duo start a new plot; one even more devious than the prior. Together, they hatch a plan to drag Stagcry down to inescapable depths. Depths that are meant to lead to the healer's downfall.

But when all else fails, Stagcry finds himself eye to eye with one of his kin; the lies of his life finally catching up to him.
