The coyote pack gazed at the patrol, teeth showing. Animal blood dripped off of their jaws. Eaglepaw felt like he was going to explode with worry. The coyote pack was now circling them, tails lashing and eyes gleaming with hunger.
"What are we going to do?" Sparkstar hissed. "We only have five cats on this patrol. We possibly can't fight the coyote pack off!"
I've failed them, Eaglepaw thought. "We're not going to make it out alive. We're going to die here, without a burial."

Hi Readers, Before you read this book, I just wanted to say that I am currently in the process of rewriting this story. Changes, whether they are big or small will be applied and things will most likely be cut. I am looking towards making this story more consistent since its not evident in the first draft. I hope that you will continue to support this story nevertheless of the changes made. Kindest Regards, Christine *** Prologue "She's here! We've found her!" The girls parents came racing over to the river bank that separated the two werewolf packs. "She's not breathing! Why isn't she breathing?!" The man pushed the woman out of the way gently and leaned down to check the young girls breathing. He put one hand on the girl's chest and started compression. He checked the girl's breathing again and continued with compression. The girls started to cough up river water. The man pulled her swiftly to her side so that she could expel the rest of the water out through her mouth. "Oh, honey!" the woman gathered the girl up in her arms and squeezed. The girl looked around disorientated. There were strange men and men from her own pack standing around her. "What happened?" She murmured. The woman looked down at her daughter with tears flowing down her face. "You nearly died." *** *Check out the rest of the prologue for more* #1 HigherPower #1 EpicBattles 2# Flames 2# PackMates 36# Power Copyright © All Rights Reserved 2020 NeoNixButterfly21/Christine Copyright © All Rights Reserved 2021 NeoNixButterfly21/Christine Copyright © All Rights Reserved 2022 NeoNixButterfly21/Christine ~ All chapters hereafter are protected by copyright. Living as a rogue is hard enough, but doing so as a runt is even harder. Rogues, lawless wolves, and ferals are only some of the dangers Jade must face while living in no man's land, and she has to be clever to survive. Such a lifestyle has taught her several tricks and given her valuable skills, but will they be enough to convince a pack to let her prove her worth? If a pack does accept her, could she dare to dream of falling in love? -------- On a side note: None of the main characters are mated to an Alpha. No character has 'exclusive' abilities or powers. ----- Sneak Peek: My steps faltered as I noticed that two of the pursuing wolves had sped ahead on a larger circuit and were waiting to intercept me. I launched towards a tree and used my feet to ricochet off at a ninety-degree angle without slowing down. One of the wolves following further behind was able to easily correct for my new direction and picked up speed. The tan wolf was closing in, and I started to panic. I looked around frantically, trying to find a way to escape. I saw a rabbit burrow under a small bramble bush and desperately raced towards it. I darted under the edge of the plant and heard the tan wolf going around as he expected me to come out the other side. It gave me the precious seconds I needed to squeeze down the tunnel. My relief was short-lived - the rabbit that dug this burrow had not survived long enough to finish it. The tunnel was only about twice as long as the average human arm, and I could clearly see the entrance. I sent a silent prayer that the bramble bush would deter them and that they would not realize just how shallow this burrow was. I waited anxiously. Embrace the cringe.. Is the risk too big to take? Fantasy is a world different from our own. For starters, there are no humans! A few animal species have now become intelligent, like wolves. There are six wolf packs, and the problem of the dragons who have recked their land has become too big of a problem. SunRay, the leader of Sun Pack, has had a vision from The Ones Above of 5 pups to go on this quest. The leaders will choose a pup with the strongest Element Magic to go on this terrifying journey. The only problem is- is that one of them is a hybrid.. Can they do this without dying? Is the risk of bringing a hybrid too much? Does SunRay's vision ask something else? Well, you will have to determine that yourself by reading Paws in Talons, a book full of Adventure, Friendships, Mystery, made by Ripplestream11 and my anonymous friend. [completed!] Under editing! Man kind, invincible and scared of nothing. We were the superior race, and we revelled in it. We all thought we were the ones at the top of the food chain, completely untouchable. However it was like I said, we 'thought' we were. In the darkness lurks a creature like no other, that prays upon us. Hunting us! Waiting for just the right moment to strike, to knock us off of our high pedestal and back onto the ground. I know this because I have seen this beast. Been face to face with it, battled toe to toe with this creature, fighting for what was left of my life, and I was losing! - - - - - - - - "Watch out!" I scream in alert, as a hard thudding sound pierced our ears as something slammed into our side of the car, sending a sensation of dizziness as the car spun of of control. The screeching tires dragged along the floor, with the faint stench of the irony liquid dripping from my head as it all grew still...
