Meet August (Gus) one of our main characters. He has spent years struggling to figure out himself. It isn't until he lays eyes on Amethyst (Amy) our other main character, the new girl in school, that things change. August finds himself falling hard for Amethyst when they become friends on the first day of ninth grade. Meet Amethyst (Amy) our other main character, the new girl in school. Amy had just moved from Vancouver to start her new life with her mom in Toronto. Amy and her Mom have been through a lot together with her dad passing from cancer. Amy's mom finally decided she needed a change so they took on the love to Toronto. On Amys first day she met August and Marcus, August's best friend since they were young. Marcus also happens to be falling for Amy. Will Gus shoot his shot with Amy? Will Marcus beat him to it? Will this be the end of a friendship? Or the start of really messy friendship between the three?

In the day-to-day trenches of high school, it is almost the default-setting to believe we are the main character of our own coming-of-age story. This is not wrong. It's just ours isn't the only story there is. The jocks, the nerds, the cheerleaders, the losers, the stoners, the fangirls, the skaters. Everyone's the realest most important person in existence, all of them, at the same time, first-person narrators to their own stories, stumbling into each other's plot lines, defying the status-quo, catalysts to ups and downs. A deconstruction of all the high school tropes and cliches written over the years, a deep-dive into the psyche of students trying to finish high school while going through irrevocable self-discovery, the most improbable of connections, and the insufferable pains of growing up.
