I swallowed thickly, taking discreet steps backward as the boys in front of me drew closer. "What is that supposed to mean?"
"It means, that you're with us now, Freshman. No matter how far you run, how loud you scream, or how hard you resist...you're in this for the long run."
The tense, heavy silence that hung between the five of us was suffocating.
Luke clapped his hands together, sending me that dazzling smile of his despite the severity of the current situation. "Right. Now that we cleared that up, let's get moving. We have work to do."
"Would you like Ashton to be your brother sweetie?" I remember my mom asking me when I was only five. I nodded my head vigorously; who wouldn't want their best friend to become their sibling? That was 12 years ago, but things haven't changed much other than the fact that our parents are married. Ashton is the best brother I could ask for and I know he loves having me as his sister. Now it's time to meet his band, and all I can do is hope for the best.
