Considering that Althea has spent over five centuries without a mate, she is skeptical about Reed's claim. Why would she suddenly have a mate now, after such a prolonged period of solitude?
But that is the least of her problems, there are forces in play planning to ruin the entire werewolf population and she happens to be in the center of it all.

I closed my eyes ready for my death when I heard a very loud and dangerous growl, I swear I felt the ground under me shook by it. I opened my eyes quickly to see what it is, but I couldn't believe my eyes, I just couldn't. even in this state, me crying mess, in pain, this was just like a dream. H-how is that possible? How can there be a Lycan right in front of me? They exist only in fantasy. I wiped my teary eyes with the back of my hands, it took me only a few seconds to do so, but when I removed my hand the big Lycan which was far away only a few seconds ago was now right in front of me I couldn't help but to scream.
