After her high school is massacred by an unknown cult, Macie is recruited into the band of thieves. Meeting a man who wants to leave the cult, Macie and the man run away, triggering an extensive search.
The cult ultimately grows into a large, unstoppable force which takes control of the United States Government, starting an apocalyptic war of the worlds.
