You never expect something bad to happen to you. We live our lives watching others have accidents or lose a loved one, but no one thinks something like that would happen.
That was exactly the case for me. I was riding my bike to another track practice on a warm, spring Saturday evening. I was on my town road when a drunk driver swerved and crashed right into me, sending me whirling off the road. I didn't remember much after except an overwhelming pain in my spine before going unconscious. How much more cliche could this get?

Call me nosy but I just really can't help it! Apparently my best friend, a member of the basketball team, suddenly quits just to take care of her neighbor! I thought it was because of Cherry so it's not much an issue. She then shows up at school after a whole week with a guy on a wheelchair. She refuses to talk to her usual friends and even to me! Her entire life so far had been like one sunny afternoon, passing quickly and soon forgotten along with all the other days that had no stand-out excitement or tragedy. At thirteen she was ready to explore the entire world, learn fighting and this new world. Her emotions were not easily hidden on her innocent face.
