They spent their days together with a Polaroid by their side to stick their photos up unto their own treehouse until the accident happened, causing Zick's memories disappear in a flash, including Allie. She doesn't have the guts to leave things just like that because he was the most amazing thing that happened in her life. She will then do everything in order for her to take back what she had. Although it wasn't just his memory loss that can stop her from bringing him back.
