The sun gracefully sank beneath the horizon, casting long shadows upon Arcanum, a city where arcane energies flowed like a hidden heartbeat. Centurios, a once-mighty figure, now bore the weight of time's passage. His Rank 9 Getovhi emblem, once vibrant, had faded. Retirement had been his hope, away from the council's intrigues and power plays. In his prime, Centurios had been a hero, renowned for quelling the rogue Rank 9 Getovhi rebellion. That brutal war had scarred Arcanum, but they'd imprisoned the rogue Rank 9s in the Chamber of Cronos, a timeless prison. News of a rogue Rank 9, Ripok, who stole the Key of Panagea, reached Centurios. Fear rippled through Arcanum. Ripok's actions threatened to unleash the Chamber's prisoners and chaos. The council implored Centurios for help. Reluctantly, he agreed. Now, a disparate team of Getovhi stood before him. And he had to make sure they stayed alive and completed the mission. The council's charge: retrieve the Key from Ripok and halt his cataclysmic plan. Centurios knew their path held unknown trials. As they prepared for the quest, nostalgia gripped Centurios. Memories of heroism resurfaced. Fate beckoned him. The retired hero would become a legend once more, a destiny he could not evade.

Lady Aria of Li-Aval feels like a prisoner, with a magnificent manor as her cage. Her father hides her from the rest of the world because Aria has hair like strands of gold. Literally, her hair is gold. When Aria's father tries to marry her off to an elderly man, she takes her deceased mother's necklace and runs away with her servant, Tina. They stumble upon Torenth, a city hidden behind a waterfall, and the Guardians welcome her into their castle like family. Lord Deric tries to win her heart, but Aria's eyes are on Owen, the shy blacksmith. When Aria finds out she is the next Guardian of Torenth according to a prophecy, she must figure out a way to keep her father out of Torenth. For if she cannot be the next Guardian, Torenth will be lost forever. Note: I wrote this ten years ago when I was 14 so it is rather short! Only 24,000 words.
