The second I closed my eyes, I thought of his teeth sinking into me. His long, sharp nails dragging against my body, bringing my scars back to life. When his large, yellow eyes gazed upon me, I could feel my insides erupt as blood spurted out of my nose, flooding the forest floor. I thought such a devil certainly would have killed me hours ago, although I stood untouched. When I opened my eyes I was left without his bite marks, and without him. Not a single drop had left my body, but my heart felt empty and dry, even after hours of heartwarming feelings, hours of what felt like love. Where has my personal devil gone?

I was supposed to be on a chill RV camping trip with my boyfriend's family. Key words: supposed to. I hated him, I hated them, and the only thing keeping me sane was sneaking off at night to take pictures of the forest. But one night... I wandered too far. Now I'm being held captive by something straight out of a fever dream-a 7-foot tall lycan beast who doesn't shift, doesn't speak, and definitely doesn't care about my personal space. "No! Please no!" she begged. "I told you to do what I say! Now suffer the consequence!" Her father grabbed her hair and shoved her towards the bed. Her head got hit by the wall and it hurt like hell. She whimpered but as if her father didn't hear it he continued to grab her once again. "Father, please" She cried" "Now you have the guts to call me father huh? I should do this more often" She tried to run but he was able to catch her in his strong hands. "NO!" She kicked him and bit his hands but to no avail. He gripped her wrist and tied it towards the bed. "Don't protest daughter or it'll excite me even more" She escaped from home and welcomed hell into her life. Every night she felt pain all over her body. Her adopter lambasted her mercilessly until she was in deep darkness. An opportunity came and she immediately took it. She thought she was already safe, but another chaos awaits her in the outside world. Every fiber of her body beg for her to give up. But this doesn't mean her life was full of misery. While she hides herself from the darkness, she founds light. "He looked at me, leaning in, his breath more rancid than the smell of death itself. In his mouth he didn't possess the razor-sharp, clean teeth that would glow a ghostly white in the darkness. Instead, his teeth were disgusting. They were yellow, broken, and cracked. One of them was almost completely gone, and his bloody gums were starting to grow over it. He had a large overbite due to the jaw line of his bird-like face, his upper teeth digging bloody holes into his lower gums. It looked excruciating, but I could see in his eyes that he enjoyed the pain he received, thrived off of it. He cracked a smile at me, like greeting an old friend. We made eye contact while he stared down at me, his hollowed out eyes like soul-sucking pits dragging me in deeper until I disappear. A pit formed in my stomach as a chill ran down my spine. I couldn't help but picture him digging into a human excitedly, his teeth cracking on the bones of his meal as he enjoyed each, single part. My throat became dry; my tongue felt like sandpaper scraping against the top of my mouth. My mind became fuzzy. I had no chance of survival against this, this thing, and It was toying with me. It seemed to see the fear in my eyes and laughed, the metal sounding voice screeching like nails on a chalkboard. Forest eyes
I locked eyes with it. Its amber gaze pierced through me, like it could smell my fear. There was something ancient in that gaze, something that stirred an unsettling feeling deep in my gut, a sensation I couldn't quite shake. Its claws scraped against the earth, long and curved, leaving deep marks in the fresh dirt as it moved closer. I could hear its paws thud against the ground, massive and deliberate, each step sending another shock of terror through me. The silence that followed was unnerving, heavy in the air, but then a loud crack shattered the stillness. It came from the forest-close, too close. The beast whipped its head back to the forest, quickly turning his whole body around so I was behind him. The shock from him turning so fast made me stumble a few feet backwards. The ground beneath us seemed to shift as it suddenly lunged forward, its muscles rippling with terrifying power. With one mighty leap, it vaulted over the rotting wooden fence, clearing the barrier effortlessly. The impact of its landing shook the earth beneath my feet. I staggered again, trying to keep my balance as I watched the creature, now free, pause on the other side of the fence. It cocked its head backwards meeting my gaze one final time. Then, without another notice, it darted into the forest, disappearing into the darkness like a shadow swallowed by night. I stood there, my body still trembling, staring at the empty space where the creature had been. The night had swallowed it whole. And though the sounds of the forest returned, soft and distant, the terror of that moment lingered. Was it still out there? Watching? Waiting? My eyes darted back and forth in the forest, trying to see it still hung around. I didn't know, but I couldn't shake the feeling that this encounter, this creature, was only the beginning.
