Maria Velasquez is a hispanic girl living in Mexico City in the 1940's, and she is a very protective bigger sister to her little brother Alex. She has a very dramatic past with her Mom being murdered. She lives with her delusional Grandmama, She was left to look after her younger brother after their parents had died. Maria has a lot of struggles keeping her sanity, and when she finds out her real dad is Zeus, the king of the Olympian gods, and the god of the sky she almost loses it completely.
And when the monsters killed her Grandmama as well, she flees taking her little brother with her. She was chased for miles by the unspeakablely horrifing monsters; pleading for her father Zeus to help her and her brother, and at one point just asked him to protect Alex against the monsters and not herself.
