Sadie Jones moved from New Jersey to Tusla Oaklamhoma since her mother got a new job there. Life in NJ was going so well for her, and moving was devastating.

She doesn't know about the social standings of the soc and greasers and due to her middle-class lifestyle, she never felt like she fit in.

She gets a Soc boyfriend named, Billy, who she instantly falls in love with. However, she doesn't realize what being a soc truly means and the kind of personality she would have to put on to fit in.
Just when she feels as if she is all alone in this, she befriends a Greaser named
Johnny, and they immediately hit it off.

Johnny helps her fit into the southern lifestyle, teaching her slang and other things she previously didn't know while living by the NJ rules.

When the Socs learn about Sadie's newfound friendship, she is forced to choose between the 'perfect' life and future she has worked so hard for, or the messy but perfectly real friend group she has come to love and the sweet boy who has built a space for himself in her heart.
