The Age of Solace: The Silver Wolf by -loneXwolf97-
63 parts Complete Mature
Volume 1 of the "Age of Solace" series. (Part 1 of 4). A serious dark-fantasy story. Descriptive violence and gore, as well as dark themes (Rated M, no lemons present). Peace. Conflict. War. Bloodshed. This is the way of things, and this is what happened between the dragons and mankind. Once they were allies. Man was ever growing and learning, while dragons were their guardians, watching over them. But mankind was greedy, and from that greed bred betrayal towards their great allies. In times long ago, dragon and man worked together to rid their realms of the demonic presence that once invaded their lands. Together, they defeated that enemy. But now, dragons are near extinct and the demonic menace has returned. There are humans that possess abilities that allow them to fight back, but it is not enough. Such humans have banded together, in a group called Corvin's blades. They hope to be able to defeat their enemy without the aid of dragons this time... but there is more to all of this than anyone understands. This story follows multiple youthful characters as they not only aid in the fight against the demonic threat, but learn and grow as they discover more about the lands they live in and of themselves. Views on dragons are changing, demons and spirits are invading, and two individuals are in the center of everything that is happening. Was it fate and destiny... or choice and coincidence? *Rated M for descriptive violence and gore, as well as dark themes* * Chapters to be updated* *Cover art was made by myself. Princess Serena felt she was doomed to live a dreary, protected existence in the palace that she was prepared to end. Even once she inherits the title of Queen, the kingdom of Eden would never cease to protect its flower. Her fear of living a dull life ate at her until her tempting first love, Caius, renters it. He vows to free her of her sorrows with a promise of magic, adventure, and passion. She thought he would bring her the excitement she had been looking for, but joining her deadly infatuation would wilt Eden's flower to the brink of agony. ------------------------------------------------------------------- When he turned his ear to me, I noticed that I could see the right side of his mouth. I've used it as a substitute for eye contact. When he smirked just now, I felt myself tremble. "There's a corpse of my creation at my feet Serena. What makes you think I'm devout to religion?" That explains his willingness to sin. "You're a virtuous woman for keeping to your vows, but I am by no means a virtuous man." His intent to court me is not pure. It's certainly from his heart, but his cause is not only for my love. There's something that he must prove to me now... Whether his will is enough to turn me against my virtues. With each passing day I'm growing more weary that it might be. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Cover art by Erika De Luca on ArtStation This story if the first of a series Word Count: 147,000 Please read the introduction for triggers! [Completed] Every Wolf Moon, humans are selected from each village to be sacrificed to the werewolves; creatures worshipped by humans as godlike figures. In a twist of fate, seventeen year old Mila Young is selected to be the annual sacrifice for the Trinity pack, the most powerful pack ruled by King Alpha Roman Stone. Alpha Roman and all werewolves under his rule are cursed. His hatred for the humans and his war on the deity Moon Goddesses has caused his kind to lose the favor of their blessings. However, when Mila reveals herself to have a connection to the werewolves unlike anything a human has ever had before, it becomes apparent that she may be the key to ending the suffering of Roman and his wolves... if only he can overcome the lifelong hatred that clouds his mind and darkens his heart. Excerpt: "You smell like wolf," The King Alpha declared, his voice low and angry. "I killed one," I both explained the smell and threatened at the same time. "And you think you can kill me? You think you can take my pack?" I glanced around at all the lycans still in their wolf forms, bowing obediently towards me. Could I take all of them on? I doubted it. I didn't even think I'd get this far. I didn't even know what was going on. When I turned back to the King Alpha, he was significantly closer. "Stay back!" I cried out in fear. The power flared within me once more, lifting whimpers from around me. The King Alpha hesitated again, his eyes skating over me with confusion. He took a deep breath, sniffing the air around me as he hadn't yet gotten any closer. "You smell like... my mate." {{Warning: Some scenes may be unsuitable for audiences below the age of 15 and offensive to those of all ages. Read at your own risk.}} Rankings: #1 in Lycans #1 in wolf

Exile: The Book of Ever by JamesCormier

Centuries after the Fall, the United States has been wiped away. The crumbling remains of the great American empire are home now only to savage, lawless tribes and packs of ravening Damned-the twisted children of the apocalypse. Most of those few who survived humanity's destruction spend their short lives in a violent struggle for survival. But some light still flickers in the darkness: the Blessed of Bountiful live in seclusion, relying on walls both physical and spiritual to protect them from the Desolation that their world has become. Among them are the Saints, those few men and women born with superhuman abilities that the Blessed see as gifts from God. The violent apostate tribes of the Northeast Kingdom have always been a danger, but up until recently its small size and the vigilance of its people have made Bountiful an unappealing target. As attacks on the community grow harsher and more frequent, however, even the steadfast Blessed are forced to start preparing for the worst. With her home's very existence threatened, seventeen year old Ever Oaks, a Saint with the power to heal, is forced to make a difficult choice, one that may come to define her people's future... Exile was a semi-finalist in Mark Lawrence's Great Self-Published Fantasy Blog-Off (#SPFBO). Fantasy Faction said it was "extremely cool," and Bookish Lifestyle called it "more than just a story, a journey and an experience." When I'm asked about it, I often describe it as "X-Men meets The Walking Dead." In addition to reading it here for free, you can buy Exile in e-book or paperback on Amazon.com.
