Hailey Anderson is a new student at Northern Lights for The Above, moving straight from Florida to California! She imagines her new life at school will be just like her last school, but she's wrong. Hailey witnesses a girl jump from the school's rooftop. Out of panic, she faints. When she wakes up and asks about the girl, she is shocked to discover there was no girl who jumped from the rooftop. The next days comes, Hailey notices some paranormal things starting to happen. Writings on bathroom doors, floating objects, loud slams of doors, and voices of a little girl echoing through the halls. When Hailey looks back out at the rooftop, she sees the same girl jump from there and land right back in the school's courtyard. This convinces Hailey that the school was haunted, and she wanted to know who exactly was haunting it. She tells Natalie, her best friend, and they work together to solve this case! On the way to uncover who the spirit haunting the school is, drama, heartbreak, and hardships fall on Hailey, but will it get in her way? This is also a spin-off of Chapter 1: The Girl who Always Smiles from The Infinite Dream made by Lumine Dusk~

Haunted

The dead typically want one of two things. Ghosts crave conversation. Spirits seek pain. My name is Bria, and I've been able to interact with the dead for as long as I can remember. Communicating with the deceased might sound like a cool gift, but let me assure you, it's not. Ghosts don't shut up, and not all specters are friendly. In fact, most of them are dangerous. Pretending the paranormal doesn't exist is far easier than talking to the shadows, so I've been avoiding the dead for years. Past experiences have led me to avoid the living too. And for a long time, I've successfully kept my distance. Until a single ghost encounter in the library ruins everything. Now a couple of my classmates know my secret. But as it turns out, they have a deadly secret of their own. Time to talk to the shadows again. _______________ This story contains profanity and violence. [ONC 2021 Shortlister]
