When Margo Jennings left the haunting town of Covet, she left behind not only the trauma that scarred her, but also a past she refused to confront. Now, with news of her estranged father's death, Margo reluctantly embarks on a harrowing journey back to the place she swore never to return to.

Covet has changed in the five years Margo has been gone, and so has she. Gone is the small town wide eyed girl, and in her place, a reclusive woman battling to keep painful memories at bay. The last thing Margo needs is to reopen old wounds but fate has other plans as Margo unexpectedly collides with Calder James, her childhood best friend and the one person she never wanted to face again. With emotions flaring and old wounds reopened, Margo finds herself struggling to contain the remnants of the girl she once was. Things prove to be difficult when Margo discovers her childhood home has been destroyed in the fire that killed her father and finds herself in need of a place to stay - This is how she finds herself reluctantly moving into her childhood best friends boat house with nothing but two suitcases and a plethora of confusing feelings to show for the years she has been away.
