Thanks to the accidental help from Mario, Bowser has discovered the Rift Ruby, a powerful gem that can create alternate dimensions of anyone's current universe.  After Rosalina informs Mario and Luigi about his evil plans, both the bros, along with Waluigi, Peach, and Daisy, they all gather up at Mount Beanpole to stop Bowser from shattering their world. But Bowser has other plans, while Mario charges up for his wind up punch, Bowser dodges quickly from his attack and causes Mario to break the Rift Ruby ultimately creating the Shatterverse.

And they resolve to learn about the Power of Dreams together so that Kate can control this power and understand it better. Along with their friends, they will work to know what this power is and help Kate figure out what it is. But what exactly is the Power of Dreams, and why is there nothing learned about it? Why has no one possessed it before? Could it be tied to what Kate has forgotten about herself? This is the next chapter of the tale of Mario, Sonic, and Kate. This is the second part of the Tale of the Three Heroes.

But it seems that there was another reason why Kate had to understand her powers. A reason why she forgot her past and why she has her powers. A reason why she was brought to Mario and Sonic's world. A reason that endangered her, and has now put Mario, Sonic, and their friends into danger as well. And it's not like Bowser, Eggman, or any of their schemes. This threat is difficult to identify, when the only clues lie in nightmares that Kate is having. This is the point of discovery in the tale of Mario, Sonic, and Kate. This is the dark twist in the Tale of the Tale of the Three Heroes.

Two years after the defeat of King Bowser, Mario now is a respected and loved hero of the Mushroom Kingdom. However, the heroes cut their vacation short after getting a disturbance in the kingdom. Now, Mario, Luigi, and company have to team up with a cool blue hedgehog, a space princess, and her son to save the universe from an evil goddess bent on summoning the Dark Star and bringing about the end of days. All of the characters belong to Nintendo and Sega except for Rohan, Discordia, Audrey, Captain Lardbutt, Aeron, and Atlas who are completely original characters!
