A little something to celebrate the Ides of March...

MARCH TIDES

Sharp knives and dull ones flashed up and down
through the thick, sweltering air of early Spring
in the close confines of the halls of the Senate.
Each hitting its mark, each taking its toll upon
their helpless, no longer struggling, target.

All had evil-looking grins on their faces, not a frown
was to be found. About their shoulders they did fling
their robes to free up their plunging arms so that
each thrust went in and out several times not just one
time as if to make sure their name would not be forgot.

In and out by the tens, nay, by the terrible score
through flesh and blood and even bones they tore
spilling out upon the white sacred Senatorial floor
the resulting blood, bits of flesh and horrid gore.
Their arms so busy as to later leave each one sore.

Until at last, looking askance at his close friend,
who held bloody blade, great and noble Caesar fell.
And with him fell the Roman Republic for as much as
his assailants meant to save it, they destroyed it
with each and every blow. Empire rushed in that day.

For despite the gladiators protecting each killing fiend,
and the Generals that participated, brave Antony did tell
the angry mobs and loyal soldiers what had happened alas
and they gathered up in arms and set out in hot pursuit
destroying every murderer. Caesar after all had his way.

WORK IN PROGRESS‼️ ─── β‹†β‹…β˜†β‹…β‹† ───── β‹†β‹…β˜†β‹…β‹† ── There was no noise; I was at peace, and ironically, the stone-cold pavement never seemed warmer as my blood oozed out of me and around me like a painted canvas. I was slowly losing consciousness, but my mind never seemed happier now that I was dying. The white walls with big bright lights did not resemble heaven; in fact, it was quite the opposite. I thought I had died. When I came to, I found myself in this strange place, disoriented and confused. I looked around and found another five pairs of eyes looking at me with the same emotion swirling in their gaze. Now, 15 years later, I train with these girls. Our makers take care of us, feed us, and make sure we are clean, healthy, and fit. Some of us never had that; that's probably why it took so long for us to realize we were being used. The dirty work they made us do, none of us questioned it. How could we when we were taken off the streets? For a chance at normalcy, we settled for anything, even if that meant blurring the lines of right and wrong. After a mission gone haywire, we started noticing, and now we strike back to take our voices and reclaim the power that was used on us as a way to control us. After all, they are the ones who trained us; we are just returning our long-overdue favour. ─── β‹†β‹…β˜†β‹…β‹† ───── β‹†β‹…β˜†β‹…β‹† ── Rankings : Featured in Mystery-thriller #5 in Mystery-thriller on 7/12/24

Antonia never asked to wake up in Ancient Rome with a foreign name on her tongue-or to become the Emperor's healer. One day she's a modern-day pharmacist and now she's trapped in a world where medicine is primitive, politics are deadly, and her knowledge makes her both invaluable and a threat. When the Emperor falls gravely ill, her skills may be the only thing that can save him. But palace walls are thick with secrets, and one misstep could cost her everything. Worse still, the original owner of her body wants it back-and she's growing meaner by the day. Caught between powerful enemies, a vengeful spirit, and an Emperor who seems far too curious about her past, Antonia must survive long enough to find her way home-or risk losing herself in a world that was never hers to begin with. β€’ β€’ β€’ "If the gods wished to speak," he said at last, addressing the entire banquet, "they would not whisper through the hands of a servant. They would speak to me." His voice rang clear, slicing through the lingering unease like a blade. Some nobles nodded. Others shifted uncomfortably. Then, with the ghost of a smirk, the emperor lifted his goblet. "A toast," he declared, raising it high. "To Rome. And to men, not omens, shaping its future." The hall hesitated-but only for a moment. Then, as if shaking off a spell, goblets were lifted, voices murmured their agreement, and the banquet resumed. But I did not move. I could not. Because as the emperor took his first sip of wine, his gaze flickered-just for an instant-toward the door where the Augur had vanished. And though his smirk remained, there was something else in his eyes. Something that told me the omen had not been ignored. Not truly.

'No, he didn't'. I was so shocked by the turn of events. Everything was going fine and then suddenly boom, everything turned upside down. I just couldn't believe this. What did he think of himself? 'Leave me alone.' I said firmly but his hold on me was so strong. I was struggling to get out of his bear hold but to no avail. 'Oh!! So, the poor lady thinks that I will leave her alone and just let her go free?' He had that evil laugh and boy, his breath stank. 'Man, you just signed your death warrant and I will do one favour on you.' No one messes with me. 'Ooooh, I am so scared that I almost peed my pants.' Again that idiotic laugh. I counted till 5 and then kicked right in his balls. I turned around and grabbed his hair from roots, jerked them so badly and then gave my hard elbow shot on his chin. Everything happened so fast for one moment he was standing and the other lying on floor wiggling. I charged at him with my cheetah speed, picked up a wooden rod and started hitting him wildly, 'You idiotic stinky breath was trying to steal my backpack. You are so dead.' 'Favour, favour, favour.' He was screaming in pain just after few seconds and was panting hard. I picked my paste from my bag and threw at him, 'Brush your teeth.' I was fuming. I turned around and saw him standing wide-eyed, 'Hi, I am Scarlett.' I smiled showing my 32 teeth. 'I am scared.' His look puzzled me. I lift my hand, holding my pistol to his chest, hovering over his heart. He stares at me, emotions spilling out of him. Emotions I can't decipher. He leans closer, the tip of the barrel pressing into his skin, just above his heart. "Do it," he whispers, inches from my face. I hold his gaze, while his hands snake under my shirt, grazing my skin. "I dare you," he lowers his voice, so gently, "Shoot me." My finger curls around the trigger, an inch from pulling it. I glare into his eyes, "You're a fucking monster," I whisper. He nods, "I know." "You kill without remorse," I spit. "I know." "I hate you," My finger screams at me to pull the trigger. "I know." "I'm disgusted by you." "I know," he inhales, letting his forehead rest against mine. His gaze falls to my lips, "If you want me dead, then kill me, pull the trigger." - It's no longer a question. My morals are gone, leaving nothing but a monstrous killing machine. Any hope for some sort of sympathy, some regard for life is nonexistent. I want death. I want to be the bringer of death, and the essence of slaughter. - Rhea Windsor, the newest ruler of Ovantasa after her parents- the former king and queen were assassinated. One moment I'm standing amidst the crumbling ruins of a Late Republican villa, running my fingers over a mysterious medallion. The next, I'm in ancient Rome, staring into the eyes of a man I never thought I'd see in the flesh. Roman Senator Marcus Valerius - the subject of the fresco that's had me swooning since I was ten. And holy gods, his fresco did not do him justice. The man standing before me is a chiseled, breathing embodiment of pure, unadulterated masculinity. His intense gaze is locked on me, and I swear, my knees are actually weak. I always thought that was just a cheesy romance trope - but no, here I am, wobbling like a baby giraffe. But here's the thing: those dusty history books I've spent my life poring over? Yeah, they left out a few crucial details. Like how Marcus has brothers. Three of them. And they're all... wait for it... devastatingly gorgeous in their own ways. There's Lucius, with his warrior's build and a smirk that promises he's conquered far more intimate territories than any battlefield. Flavius, the diplomat, with a silver tongue that I'm quite sure has talents beyond negotiating treaties. And Rufus, the enigmatic freedman whose clever hands and perceptive eyes seem to see right through me, unraveling my secrets before I even know what's happening. I'm clearly in a world of trouble. But with Marcus's commanding presence making my heart race, Lucius's heated glances sending shivers down my spine, Flavius's sinful promises whispering in my ear, and Rufus's quiet charm drawing me in - I'm not so sure I even want to find my way back out.

Nailing Your Dictatress

3 parts Ongoing Mature

You met Julius Caesar and he's a pretty (and devious) lady...? Forty years before Caesar's fateful crossing of the Rubicon, there was another dictator - one who set the stage for the empire to come. A powerful strongman who declared himself the savior of the Roman Republic as he burned it to the ground. What was he thinking as he shattered hundreds of years of tradition to march the legions on Rome itself? What about when he sank the city in mass terror as he put up his famous proscriptions? In the historical record, we are left with only pieces of their story, meaning to really understand what he was like, we had to be there. Modern-day everyman Richard Williams knows little of ancient Rome or its citizen-farmers, praetors, or garum. However, he does know he needs to work three jobs a week to support himself, broke up with his girlfriend, and has died in a traffic accident. Therefore, he's rather confused when he wakes up in Rome two millennia ago and meets a seven-foot tall horned woman with massive assets. Despite his lack of knowledge in this regard, he's pretty sure that's *not* part of history. A very, very, very historically accurate retelling of the fall of the Roman Republic in a gender-role reversed world where the whims of powerful women move the fates of nations.
