High school is like a sour cream and anchovy sandwich - it smells and probably has an unsafe amount of chemicals floating around. Avery Rivers fully understands the true, horrific nature of high school, and refuses to let that stand in her way on her journey to an epic senior year. However, when her one and only friend gets the hell out of dodge in favor of the sunny skies of southern California, she knows what she has to do. With a lot of convincing and a decent amount of luck, Avery and her mother decide it is time for them to relocate from their tiny ass town in Oregon. Goodbye, rainy days - hello sunshine and spray tans.
However, things don't always turn out how you expect, and Avery has to figure out how to conquer numerous challenges before graduation: A highly anxious teacher, many new friends, a couple of love interests just to thicken the grand plot, an unexpected assault, and, most difficult of all, her own mind.
