NOTE: I am new to Na'vi language, so I might not translate things correctly. If this is the case, please be patient with me. (I am using a word dictionary, but I might not be formulating sentences correctly).
Like the introduction of the Metkayina clan, this story features the Awnoku'ma (ow-no-coo-ma) clan of the desert lands, (completely made up for this storyline), where the Na'vi are cultured in bone craftsmanship, and rely heavily on the surrounding animals for tools, leather, food, and much more. The color of their skin is a lighter brown shade, (compared to the other clans) providing a decent amount of camouflage while they hunt in the canyon areas they inhabit.
The main character, Samantha, like Jake Sully, has human origins, but this time around, Samantha has no fond memories of possessing a human body. Her body was rumored to have been consumed by Eywa, and due to her sacrifice, was granted another by the great mother (but still possessing some of her human DNA).
Because of this, Sam's avatar possesses four fingers and a thumb, unlike most Na'vi, that possess three fingers and a thumb.
Of course, having a sign of "sky people" blood, Sam was heavily ridiculed for her deformation, even to the point where the fourth finger on each hand, and each foot, was cut off by the Awnoku'ma Olo'eyktan in pure humiliation. Sam was left traumatically scarred, but it was the only home she fully knew, so she dare not leave.
Within the Awnoku'ma clan though, Samantha was lucky enough to meet a brave female warrior, Aang'a, that found her fascinating, and quite resilient for her reluctance of being cast aside. Aang'a's little sister, Ta'elle, took a great liking to Sam as well, and Aang'a decided to take her underneath her wing, teaching her more proper ways to hunt, and be one with Eywa.
Aang'a's partnership with Sam develops quite deeply in a matter of time, and what they feel for each other, might be much more than companionship.
