Her sudden question caught me off guard, prompting a mixture of surprise and confusion to dance across my features.

"Why the morbid topic out of the blue?" I chuckled awkwardly, releasing a puff of smoke before extinguishing it beneath my heel. Turning to face her, my expression hardened.

She met my gaze with her piercing obsidian eyes, seemingly peering into the depths of my soul. The dim light cast shadows, turning her eyes into reflective pools that mirrored only my silhouette.

"Do you ever entertain thoughts of your demise?"

Humans, I've come to realize, are enigmatic beings, shrouded in layers of deception. Their true intentions are often hidden behind a facade, leaving one to question the authenticity of even the closest relationships.
