(This was my first book and hella crappy. When I tried to rewrite it, it didn't work so it's still the terrible version) Demons and Angels, Light and Dark, are again on the brink of war. A prophecy, however, was relayed to the two kingdoms, speaking of a human warrior who would rise and heal the millenia of bloodshed. Cue Ailith Everstone; clever, sarcastic, brave, beautiful and incredibly annoying. She's the most powerful Incarnate of the Phoenix goddess, sent to save all the realms from the most devastating tragedy. She meets the Hunter Ramírez, the Prince of Darkness and military genius, who helps her play a deadly game of ballgowns, charm and swordplay. The fate of the realms and balance of the cosmos are at stake. Two emotionally unstable teenagers sent to save the world; seems legit.

Alyssa has forgotten her brush with Death, but David's words have stayed with her: prepare. For what? She doesn't know. For a year, she's trained and become an almost undefeated boxer, putting all of her grief for the boy she loved and lost into being the best fighter. She's fast, strong, fearless. Now strange things have started happening, and she thinks she's losing her mind. How is she supposed to fight against what she can't see? Her mother's mind is clouded with a darkness no medicine can fix, and an ancient shadow circles the town, and Alyssa knows it's somehow related to her. Gifted in ways she doesn't understand, she's thrust into a triangle of devotion and danger-an angelic protector who refuses to leave her alone, a boy whose hands have held hers through the nights, and a darkness that wants only to make her surrender. In a race that runs as fast as her fists, Alyssa must choose who to trust and how much of herself to give-because the only way to stop a thing that feeds on light may be to become what it fears most. Will she save her mother and keep her humanity, or the secrets hasn't discovered cost her everything?
