America Singer has been accepted to Illéa's most prestigious fine arts academy for the gifted and talented— and occasionally the usual lord and duchess. She's reluctant to leave her family in Carolina and finds it hard to adapt to the wealth and prosperity that fills the halls of the boarding school. To make  matters worse, she caught the eye of the dashing Maxon Schreave, son of the headmaster, and he is persistent in becoming her friend— and possibly even more. America soon finds that there's more to the academy than just academics.
