Starting over in a small town in a new state with two small children after a rough divorce that ended in tragedy, Vivian is focused on healing her past trauma and raising her kids all the while running her small bookkeeping business.  She has no interest in romance and is more than happy to live her life on her small ranch with her dog, chickens, and three promising horses she rescued from a slaughterhouse.

Burke is more than happy to be the town recluse, keeping all interactions with others to a minimum while maintaining his ranch.  That is, until his peaceful life is turned completely upside down by the damaged woman and her two children who live on the property next to him.
