Nefertiti didn't know who her parents were. All she knew was that she was gold all over. Yondo Udonta has been the one to take care of Nefertiti since she could remember. She doesn't know how she got to be with the Ravagers, but all she wants is to find someone just like her. Yondu explained to her that she is part of a species called The Sovereign. A race of gold humanoid beings who considered themselves on a higher plane than everyone else, but Nefertiti never thought of herself that way. After a couple of years, Nefertiti figured out that she did not age or die and was confused that Yondo had taken young Peter Quill away from his home on Earth. 

After years of being a sister to Peter, Yondo entrusted Peter and Nefer to find something and bring it back to him. Nefer will find more to her family than she thought she would.
