Sinclair Publishing House was a family business for everyone in the family except Arthur Sinclair's youngest son, Harris. Harris wanted nothing to do with it, which was fine until his grandfather left Arthur in charge with a rather problematic contingency- one that required all heirs to the family inheritance to work for the company for five years. Should one heir decide to forego their five year requirement, the company would be sold and they would see nothing from the profits of the sale. His father neglected to tell Harris of the contingency because he wanted him to be able to choose his life path without the pressure of family obligation. On the eve of his graduation from NYU (with his masters in Photography), his grandfather gave him the news his father didn't want to. Harris' loyalty to his family caused him to set aside all his plans and take an editor job at the publishing house. He'd do his time, but he'd be anything but happy about doing so, especially because he didn't know the first thing about being an editor. Enter his new assistant, Wyatt Tate. Wyatt was desperate for a job- any job. After the rent was raised in the apartment she shared with her father and siblings in Brooklyn, she took a job that she was over qualified for. Her grad school classmate, Hannah, was able to get her an interview to be an assistant editor at Sinclair publishing house. Her entitled 'boss' hired her because she was the only applicant that wasn't male. She made it clear, on day one, that she wasn't in the habit of taking orders from anyone, let alone a man who didn't know how to do his job. A job that she would kill to have, but he just walked into because of his last name. Would they be able to figure out a way to work side-by-side, doing jobs that they both disliked, for the promise of something better down the road? *Started November 22nd, 2023

I breathe in, surprised by the delicacy of his touch. Suddenly, I feel his thumbs trace underneath my jaw only to direct my head to tilt up. "Just because your fuck of a boyfriend couldn't appreciate you, doesn't mean nobody else would. If you think that, then you're full of shit." "I-I don't think that," I tell him and I can feel it getting harder to breathe in the elevator shaft. "Then what's the problem, angel?" He's asking, sliding his thumbs off my jaw to trail over my throat. I can feel his long fingers meet behind my neck.
