Amazing Grace Orphanage. Hidden amongst Japan's Iya Valley and its dramatic, it's a remolded farmhouse that takes in children who've lost their parents after villain attacks. Or at least that's what they do on paper. 

In reality this homestead serves as a laboratory specialized in genetic engineering. 

Hundreds of experiments call its halls home, but few have ventured beyond its fields unscathed. Subject 353-600L - a boy whose genetic code was spliced with avian DNA at the time of his conception - has only ever known this place and has never once thought of venturing beyond it.
 
This changes, however, when he and five others are roped into planning an escape by a talking rat-like being called Nezu who promises them the chance to achieve every child's dream; and that's to become heroes.
