Harry is a young boy who is haunted by the ghosts of his grandparents, who died in a fire before he was born. They blame him for their death and torment him with their dark magic. Harry hides his secret from everyone, especially from his best friend and boyfriend Louis, who is also his bandmate in One Direction. One day, Harry finds a book and a necklace in the attic that belonged to his grandparents, and he hears their voices for the first time. They tell him that they have been waiting for him, and they smile wickedly at him.

Louis Tomlinson has always been good at reading people-until he meets Harry Styles. At first, Harry is just the quiet, intriguing guy he sees more often than Louis would prefer, the one who rarely speaks but always seems to know things. When Louis finally talks to him, he can't shake the feeling that something is different. The way Harry pauses before responding, the way his eyes stay locked on people's lips rather than their eyes-it's subtle, but Louis notices. And once he starts noticing, he can't stop. As curiosity turns into fascination, Louis finds himself drawn deeper into Harry's world. But when he finally learns the truth-that Harry is deaf-he realizes communication is more than just words. Determined to understand him, Louis embarks on a journey that forces him to question everything he thought he knew about connection, privilege, and love. Because some things don't need to be spoken to be heard.
