As the 9th and youngest son of a famous foreign warrior, Han Jisung has always known he'd been raised for one purpose, to marry into a high class. Never mind his cunning, which rivals that of his other siblings, or his skills as an accomplished alchemist. Since Jisung was not born the oldest, his fate was sealed from his first breath.

At just 19 years old, Jisung is sent to the imperial palace to meet his betrothed, a woman he did not choose. But the journey is cut short when his convoy is attacked by a group of bandits called the 'Black Clan'.

As the only survivor, he narrowly escapes into the woods were he makes a plan for vengeance. Disguising himself as a peasant boy, he covers all traces and marks of life as a noble class, including an infamous birthmark that could lead him to his doom upon sight.

However, once Jisung is within their ranks, he finds that he is appreciated for his wits and ideas. He even find himself falling into an unexpected emotion, that will cause him to sharply question what he knows.
