To debut, the five members of Apple Hair join AWE Entertainment, the first company of its kind in Oahu, Hawaii. Inspired by K-pop companies, the rigid training system is too much for most trainees to bear. But Van, Corrin, Kaden, Seiya, and David are determined to make it. Formed as a group early on, they promise each other they will debut as a group that will make a special universe for them and their fans.
As the training grows tougher and they make rivals with various trainees, the five boys of Apple Hair decide--why not start now? They begin writing the story of their universe, including the various adventures they want to set out on in their music videos, canon stories, and even fanfiction.
As the boys write, the universe seems to oppose. The training gets tougher. Rivals and instructors seem to conspire against them. Old ghosts come out to haunt, and the boys of Apple Hair almost quit altogether. But what they began was a magic spark, and soon it sets fire to reality. Turns out, the Apple Hair universe has more power than the boys originally assumed. In fact, their real life changes bit by bit each time they create. To debut, the boys must not get lost in the fantasy that threatens to swallow them. But staying grounded is hard, and it's even harder to do so when they're tempted to stay in their dream worlds forever.
"So this is it then," Aaron Knowles spoke softly, "this is where it ends."
He didn't even respond. Instead Caleb Jefferson rushed towards him, wrapping his arms tightly around Aaron's middle. The month they had spent together had felt like a lifetime, and now it was being ripped away from them.
"I'm gonna miss you," Caleb whispered, his breath lingering on Aaron's neck.
Aaron nodded, his hand resting in Caleb's shaggy, blond hair. "Me too," he answered, his voice coming out just as soft.
"Thank you for a great summer," Caleb tried his hardest to smile, blinking away any tears that threatened to fall. And in that moment the world seemed to pause. Aaron took a step forward, placing a hand under Caleb's chin before moving in closer. Their lips connected for what should have been the final time.
