Consider this the real story rewrite version of the original. Similar premise, I just want to take this one more seriously.

Y/N just moved to the Big Apple, looking to get a job as a professional hero. They get paired up with Hellhound, a no-nonsense rescue hero who doesn't seem interested in anything besides getting the job done. The local bodega owner, Celestino, seems awfully similar to Hellhound, but he doesn't recognize Y/N at all. The day after an ordeal happens which causes Dazod to have to stay in the human dimension and having to protect Esme... even if he didn't want to at first.
