However, today is different. I'm in India getting my Mehndi done. I don't know how this all came about, but when I received that 'Rishta' proposal, I immediately said yes because he was incredibly handsome-the hottest man on Earth. How could I say no to him? This doesn't mean I said yes in just one second. It took me a whole year to say yes to him. We've had only five special dates, but those five dates were enough for me to realize he's my own Greek God, Mr. Perfect.

I remember her 16th birthday party vividly, the first time I technically saw her-well, after 10 years, it makes sense. Yes, a 10-year age gap, but what had to happen, happened. So, here we are, getting her Mehndi done. I can't see her face because it's covered.

"We were not even here when all that happened," she said.

"I know, but you both weren't in that worse condition to let someone, who came from nowhere, rule over your son," Kimaya said, frustrated that they agreed to let Sumitradevi inside the palace.

"Chirag, let's take Arya from here. I cannot trust him with my daughter; she's too young to understand all these things," Kimaya said to her husband.

"Remember the happiness we shared, Aaranya?" he asked, tears welling in his eyes.

"Yes, we were happy, but not anymore," she replied dryly, displaying no emotion.

"We can try," he pleaded.

"But we can't make it work," she said, devoid of any expression.

"Why not give it a shot, Aaranya?"

"Viransh, the decision was sudden, and it ruined both our lives. There's no one left to make it work for."

"We want this, Aaranya. I want it, and somewhere, you do too."

"It's over. We should end this relationship."

"We're not kids breaking up over trivial reasons."

"Do what you want, but don't covme back. If we try, we'll only end up more separated."

⋆✧𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢 𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞✧⋆ "Will you marry me?" he asked, his words startling me. His proposal stemmed more from a desire to possess me than from genuine love. It felt like he wanted to prevent me from seeing anyone else. "And why would I marry you?" I asked, my voice dripping with sarcasm. He furrowed his brow. "Because we're dating, aren't we? You shouldn't have any objections, should you? Besides, Aarvi and my family loves you." I took a step closer, my tone chillingly calm. "And what about you, Anirudh? What about your feelings? "So you're scared of commitment huh?" I snapped at him. He looked down, avoiding my gaze. "You know everything I have belongs to you." "But I never wanted anything from you," I countered, my voice rising. "All I ever wanted, all I ever needed, was for you to love me." Tears welled up in my eyes, and I gripped his collar, my voice trembling. "Just tell me once, Anirudh, just once that you love me. I would leave everything else behind for you without a second thought." He continued to avoid my gaze, the silence his damning confession. "Just go, Anirudh, and don't ever show your face again" I whispered. I turned away, intending to leave him standing there, but I felt him grip my arm, spinning me around. "I'm leaving for now," he said, his voice low and dangerous, "but I can't make that other promise." "What do you mean?" "I will marry you, Ruhi Shekhawat," he declared, his eyes gleaming with a possessive intensity. "No one can stop me. You've seen the loving side of me, but now you'll witness a side of me you won't soon forget. A side that will go to any extent to have you. A side that will stop at nothing when it's about you" He leaned in and pressed his lips against mine.

"So, should I take it as a 'yes' Dharani?", Acharya asked me looking straight into my eyes as if he is reading my expressions. I immediately looked down trying to compose myself and hide my feelings before he actually reads them. "Or would you like to take your word bac...." "It's a yes," I replied confidently. Taking your word back is the worst thing you could do in a royal family. It is a sign of weakness and is just unacceptable. Moreover, I am pretty sure Arjun would never agree to marry me. So why should I be the one to reject. "What about you, Arjun?" asked King Indra turning towards his son. "You remember what you told yesterday right?" he said signaling Arjun about something. The room was filled with absolute silence and I realized that the only sound that could be heard is that of my bangles, and that is because my right hand is slightly shivering. "Umm...father....I, " Arjun stuttered perhaps for the first time in his life, "accept....accept... this marriage proposal." I looked at Arjun in disbelief. My eyes widened and I didn't know how but my hand was already on my forehead. I didn't expect this from him. Why in the world would he want to marry me? He hates the way I look at the world. He wants everyone to be as heartless as him and I would never be able to do that. "Dangerously kind" is the word he used to describe me a while ago. We wouldn't even make good friends, let alone life partners. How in the world could we live together? "So it's official. You both are going to get married," king Indra said smiling while Acharya was writing something on a paper as if he already knew this is not going to be all love love. "This is more of an agreement king," he said as he wrote down, "and they knew it. They were eavesdropping on our conversation from the beginning." True, we heard them. We understood what they had planned, but we didn't want to get married. At least I didn't.....

"Sshhhhh....." he hushed and pinned us against the wall leaving no space between us. I held onto his biceps with my hand in reflex. He shook his head lightly signalling me not to scream. But did not remove his palm, awaiting confirmation I guessed. I nodded a little locking eyes with him fearfully. I witnessed a glimmer in his eyes and he removed his palm from my mouth slowly. I mustered up a little strength and asked nervously. "Kon hai aap aur yahan kya kar rhe hain," His eyes softened, looking deep into my eyes as if he could see through them as if he owned them. A strong wind surfaced, pulling away the fabric and revealing his face. It was him. My heartbeats raced wildly. He flickered his gaze to my lips for a few seconds, licked his lower lip a little with an unreadable emotion and peered back deeply into my eyes, delving into my soul. He replied in the raw, masculine and resonating voice I had heard months before. "Daksh naam hai hamara. As I took a seat beside her, I realised that she was awfully quiet. "Is everything fine", I asked her. Naina licked her lips and looked at me. For a few seconds none of us said anything and then finally she said- "Aakash, my family has a second-hand car. I have been earning for quite sometime now but my savings aren't enough for even a bike. We live in a small apartment, which you have seen already, throughout my life I have shared everything...my books, clothes, shoes, cosmetics, even my laptop with my elder sister." I did not understand why Naina was saying all this with a sad expression. To me, everything that concerns her always feels happy and worth being proud of. She continued- "What I am saying Aakash, is that I am nowhere worthy, capable, or even habituated of a life where my husband owns a house with an elevator or where he wishes to buy me a helicopter. We are so different, Aakash. This scares me a lot". Not even for a moment have I ever felt that Naina would be insecure of my living standards. But, I understood where she was coming from.
