As you go along, the characterisation gets better and better, and though I don't want to claim that they act perfectly canon, I think they're pretty accurate :)

"what makes you say that?" sonadow/ modern world au bored out of his mind, sonic the hedgehog and his brother manic venture out to the bar, but there's a catch: the azure of the two is in make-up and a dress! looking pretty feminine enough, they decide to mess with the werido drunkies of the establishment but upon meeting an ebony hedgehog named shadow, sonic starts to forget what made this joke funny in the first place. shadow the hedgehog is dragged to the bar by his brother mephiles and it's not like there's any way to escape. the striped hedgehog sits alone in a corner wishing to be no where but home but when a pretty girl in a pink dress approaches him he feels like a new man. what makes this all better: she has the same sense of humor as his! it's hard to believe she's a normal girl but nevertheless.. shadow is in love! if only he knew.. 'sonette' is actually a boy.. ... note this is an au, all ages and personalities are altered to fit the fic. Demons. Bloodthirsty, savage killers. They don't care about anyone other than themself and will stop at nothing to get the job done. They claim to be Gods. Mobians nicknamed these demons "EXE." Their master is unknown. They come out of nowhere, mainly at night, and kill. Heroes. Heroic, brave Mobians who come out of the shadows to stop the demons. They're the ones celebrated, they're the ones loved. They care about others. There is a lot of heroes in the world, just as much as demons. They also come out of nowhere, mainly at night as well, and save lives. What if a hero and a demon fell in love? Knuckles the Echidna is a hero. Somewhat gullible but short-tempered, this echidna isn't someone you want to mess with. In terms of muscle, he's the strongest hero around, but when it comes to smarts and speed, he's the weakest. Not the sharpest tool in the shed. Sonic the Hedgehog is a demon. Somewhat snarky but kindhearted, this hedgehog is a bit cowardly when it comes to fights. He was never about fighting and violence like other demons, he just wants freedom and peace. Bullied for his secret morals, he sneaks out for the night. What if these two were to cross paths?
