Hij kijkt me aan, met zijn duistere en donkere ogen. Een intense blik die dwars door mij heen snijd. En toch moet moet ik die blik nu negeren. Hij doet een stap naar voren en ademt zacht in en uit. Zijn warme adem komt met kleine golfjes tegen mijn voorhoofd aan. Mijn ademhaling hapert en mijn handen beginnen te tintelen. Hij legt één hand zachtjes op mijn onder rug en duwt mij tegen hem aan. Ik slik en kijk hem langzaam aan. "Dit kan niet meer." zegt hij zacht, alsof niemand het mag horen, alsof hij het zelf niet mag horen. Ik knik zachtjes en probeer de tranen te onderdrukken. Hij geeft me een kus op mijn voorhoofd en loopt weg.

He didn't kiss me back maybe because he was too shocked to or because he just didn't want to. I started doing his tie, not looking up at him. I felt him staring down at me " this is the last time I am doing something for u Kai " I said as I walked out of his room and apparently his life, not daring to look back. Tears started to slip out of my eyes. I can't do this, not now, not ever. People gave me a questioning look as I walked up to the gate. Not being able to bare it anymore I started running towards my car as tears continued to slip out of my eyes. And then, then I did the most foolish thing imaginable: I flung my arms about his neck and kissed him with all that I had, almost losing myself in the safety and security I felt. But more than that, I ran. I took his moment of shock, the slight loosing of his arms about me, and tore myself away from him, shoving out the door and into the rain. I suppose I'll never know why he didn't follow me. It was the thing I feared most. I knew that if he came for me a second time, I wouldn't be able to say 'no'. I wouldn't be able to run. But I had to. I had to go. I couldn't let him be hurt because of me. He would live on now, and I would marry another. I had leased my last bit of passion in that one moment in his arms, and as I made my way through the dark streets, I felt myself become dull and lost like the creatures bound in the menagerie. **Much of this was written when I was younger and then I came back later and finished it.
