How can you be something, when all your life you've been called nothing?

Manglekit had been known as 'nothing' since her birth. Being born half deaf with no tail and terrifyingly long teeth, all of SplinterClan, the tough and strong cats of the Cloudrise Isles, has known her as a mistake.

Meanwhile her sister, Shimmerkit, is like a siren. A venomous specimen of perfection that slithered her way to being the deputy's apprentice. She knows she's favoured over her sister, and she relishes the attention.

When Manglekit, now Manglepaw, is cast out after Shimmerpaw accuses her falsely of a murder, she is taken by strange winged cats of long-ago legends on a recruiting mission, and it is only then Manglepaw has her chance at a better life.

A life where she is known as Saxifrage, warrior of the Golden Rose Cult.
