Luz was going to summer camp until an owl stole her backpack and went into a shed, leading to the demon realm. She followed the owl and met the owl lady and her demon. She helped the owl lady and her demon in order to get the key to the human realm back, but she didn't want to leave so she stayed at the demon realm with the owl lady and her demon.

Luz wanted to go to a witches school and begged the owl lady to go, and the owl lady agreed to her going to a witches school.
This is Luz's first year at hexide, the witches school, and when she is there she meets:
Willow: A girl who got forced to study abomination magic by her dads but isn't the best at it and is casually getting teased by the top student about it.
Gus: A student who is upgraded into an upper year group due to his knowledge and studies illusion magic, president of the HHAS (Hexide Human Appreciation Society) and he is best friends with willow.
Amity: The top student in abomination class. Studies abomination magic and always teases willow by calling her "half a witch" with her friends, Boscha and Skara. Her mother is the CEO of the abomination- producing community, Blight industries
Boscha: Friends with the top student of the abomination class and Skara, studies potions magic and teases willow along with Amity and Skara
Skara: Friends with the top student of the abomination class and Boscha, studies bard magic and teases willow along with Amity and Boscha
Mattholomule: he is a new student to hexide and used to attend glandus high, studies construction magic and is part of the HHAS
Emira: Amity's older sibling, studies illusion magic, twins with Edric, friends with viney and jerbo
Edric: Amity's older sibling, studies illusion magic, twins with Emira, friends with viney and jerbo
Viney: Friends with Emira, Edric and Jerbo, studies healing magic
Jerbo: Friends with Emira, Edric and Viney, studies plant magic
