In a world where superpowers, known as quirks, define one's place in society, being quirkless is a major disadvantage. However, for Izuku Midoriya, having a quirk is not the measure of heroism. Since he was a child, he has been fascinated by heroes who rescue people, and he has always dreamed of becoming one. Despite being bullied and belittled by others for his lack of a quirk, Izuku refuses to give up on his dream. He is determined to find another path to heroism, even if it means breaking conventions and expectations.

One day, Izuku discovers an ancient art form called breathing sword styles, which involves using one's breath to enhance the cutting power and range of a sword. Though he has no experience in sword fighting, Izuku is inspired by the stories of a legendary swordsman named Yoriichi Tsugikuni, who mastered the ultimate breathing technique and defeated demons with ease. Izuku believes that if he can master this technique, he can become a hero without a quirk. He starts to practice with wooden swords and tries to synchronize his breath with his movements. At first, he struggles to control his breathing and keep up with the pace of the strikes. But he refuses to give up, as he sees this as his only chance to prove himself.
