An anxious young father has just returned from a long Business trip, only to find his child sloppily wrapped in a soiled blanket. With no bottle in sight, his only choice? To gnaw on his tiny fist, whimpering quietly in his crib, as the shrill giggle; LOUD moans of a soon to be EX Wife; followed up by a nasty dark chuckle & murmured dirty words, only enhance the nightmare of his current reality making IT ALL even more confusing & painful. His stunned mind recalls her last parting words to him two weeks ago. Already straddling that thin line of running late, he'd been hurrying out the front door to catch his Uber ride to the Airport. THAT was when she'd out of the blue, all but spat, "I DON'T wanna be YOUR wife or HIS mother any longer!" The shock of her SUDDEN cruel words, had sent him hastily stumbling out their front door, down the steps & toward the long driveway of the house he was CONSTANTLY busting his ASS for; always putting forth the efforts it took toward doing his best; willing to forgo sleep or proper sustenance, JUST to make it a better home for the three of them. Only now, he feels numb, like he'd been awoken from a deep, dark, sleep. Sheepishly he's suddenly realizing how, 'NOT only had it ALL been just a huge LIE on her part? Now that the curtain of HER duplicity, with its, 'OZ like existence' been yanked back, TRUE deceit had nowhere to hide; leaving darkness no other course but spilling out on FULL display. 'SO MUCH SO? HOW could HE become more woke!?' ESPECIALLY when looking around, left him trembling; quietly swallowing sobs threatening to break from his lips, while recalling picture perfect images of his baby's formerly tidy & clean Nursery; a room that in such a short time, had now been transformed into shocking surroundings; left dirty & neglected; becoming a warped area that has him nearly gagging at the stench! I had been the perfect wife for five years, playing the role with precision and grace. I was everything he wanted me to be-the perfect companion, the perfect partner, the perfect image. But the truth was undeniable: he never loved me. His heart, his thoughts, his desires-every ounce of his being was still consumed by her, his first love. I was just the shadow in the background, the wife who filled the role but never the one he truly craved. The realization hit like a cold slap, and I knew what I had to do. I couldn't live in this hollow illusion any longer. I decided it was time to end the charade, time to move out, to reclaim my own life. But just a week later, he showed up at my door. I hadn't expected him to come. Certainly not this soon. And when I opened it, there he was, standing in the doorway like a storm waiting to break-his face flushed, eyes bloodshot with something raw, something desperate. "Divorce?" His voice was low, thick with something that might have been anger or pain-or both. His gaze pierced through me, a mixture of disbelief and fury. "Say that again." It wasn't a question. It was a command, a challenge, like he couldn't quite believe what he was hearing, but he wanted me to confirm it. And in the heat of that moment, with the air crackling between us, I knew that nothing would ever be the same again.
