Saphira had always been an outsider, an anomaly in the close-knit community of Berk. Whether it was her ethereal beauty, her enigmatic demeanor, or the whispered rumors of her unearthly origins, she never quite fit in. Human or not, she remained on the fringes of village life, a shadow in the midst of mirthful celebrations and boisterous gatherings.
It wasn't just her absence from village events that set her apart; it was her profound aversion to violence, particularly the act of dragon-slaying that defined the prowess of the young teens in Berk. Saphira had never taken the life of a dragon, not once, despite reaching the age when the ritualistic badge of honor awaited those who could claim the title of a dragon slayer.
Did she apply for that badge? No, she never did. Her parents had met a tragic end, lost to the fiery breath of a dragon, and her brother had perished alongside them. Saphira was the sole survivor, the last living Brightscale in all of Berk. Her family's name, once renowned for their dragon-slaying prowess, had become a whispered memory, a faded legend.
But then there was Hiccup, her peculiar and quick-witted best friend. He was the one person in Berk who saw something more in her, beyond the rumors and the strange aura that clung to her. Hiccup, the village outcast himself, had always marched to the beat of his own drum. He was an inventor, a dreamer, and a thorn in the side of Berk's traditionalists.
The friendship between Saphira and Hiccup was an anomaly in itself, a union of two misfits who found solace in each other's company. Yet, it was also a source of turmoil in Saphira's life. Hiccup's very existence challenged the village's conventions, and his close association with her further intensified the disdain cast upon them. It was bad enough to be unseen by the villagers, but to be seen and shunned for it-well, that was a burden far heavier to bear.
But perhaps there was something more to be done.
Everyone on Berk believes Toothless to be the last Night Fury, the only one of his kind left. But all that changes when a black dragon appears on the island, attacking livestock and threatening the vikings! Hiccup goes to pacify the dragon only to find a beautiful creature with blue eyes and retractable teeth... Another Night Fury, and this one is a female! She doesn't like humans, though, and when she flees in fear, Hiccup and Toothless have to get her back. Even if that means they have to fight other dragons, enter the Sanctuary's deepest secret and find the truth behind Comet's horrible scar. Because if they don't, the race of Night Furies is doomed...
Praise for Comet Nights:
Comet Nights is a very good fanfiction. I think that it should be made into a movie, or a HTTYD mini series on Netflix! - @jayfeather44
I wouldn't be able to even tell whether this is an official story by DreamWorks, or an enormously successful fanfiction. It really takes you to Berk and tells the life of the last female Night Fury, and how much she means to save their tribe. I am astonished by RainbowPhoenixWrites's work, it truly inspires me. - @Tsunami_Holmes
