"Do you know what the golden eyes represent, Wangji?"

"No, brother. What do they mean?"

"You have the blood of a miracle, Wangji. You are the last Phoenix."

The cultivation world had forgotten about the people who owned the eyes of a Phoenix, which is now what they believe to be a myth. But, to its surprise, Lan Wangji had grown into those very eyes after being born with the common color of brown. They say that the last Phoenix had worn that very shade, a burning amber that would pierce through the night sky, no matter how dark that sky may be.

Wei Wuxian, the Prince of Yunmeng, has come of age. The Jiangs were to give him a masquerade ball for three nights in a row in order for him to choose his spouse. Lan Wangji had planned to visit for just one night, which had gone very wrong. Lan Wangji's eyes were only a light brown when Wei Wuxian studied at the Cloud Recesses. They were not yet the shining gold that has reappeared today.

Would the Prince recognize Lan Wangji behind his mask? Or would he ignore his first love, despite the color that has shown itself to the world once more?

Wei Wuxian arrived for guest lectures to the Cloud Recesses. However, Lan Wangji quickly notices, that there is something strange about the Yunmeng Jiang sect head disciple. He does not act like rumour describe him. And most importantly, he does not act the same as he had done in the past. Moreover, there are strange visions that Lan Wangji gets when he is close to Wei Wuxian. Just what is going on? OR Wei Wuxian travelled back to the past. He does not remember anything and does not want to get close to Lan Wangji. What will Lan Wangji do? This work is inspired by request from Olivia Hawkins: "A time travel fic after Guanyin Temple where WWX uses MXY's golden core to travel all the way back before he went to the Cloud Recesses and he takes this pill that prevents him from falling in love. Every time LWJ is near WWX, he has visions of the events that occurred later in the novel such as the Cloud Recesses burning, WWX giving his golden core to JC, WWX being thrown into burial mounds and WWX becoming the YP. He approaches WWX this time and hopes that he can protect him but is rejected constantly. So he summons most of the cultivation world to tell them about the visions he had seen." This fic will contain themes and mentions that may be triggering, please read the warnings and tags I used and proceed at you own discretion. English is not my first language so I apologise in advance for any mistakes. I am also not very familiar with Chinese culture, customs nor naming conventions so this work may in some places not be 100% accurate. I do not own any characters I have used in my story, this is purely a work of fan fiction. Hope you will enjoy reading :)
