A merciless silence suffocated the air, my lips parting as my eyes flickered over him,
'Lucille?' The man's rough voice called back to the camper van, we all watched in a shiver as a short, raven haired girl slowly emerged from the RV. The sickening sound of her boots on the cold steps echoed throughout the misty forest. My dad's eyes welled with emotionless tears.
'I-I thought the baseball bat was named Lucille?' My dad's voice was hoarse, exhausted, and dry as his head twitched to look up to the dark-haired man.
'Well, Rick. Meet the ass-kicker who named the Bat.'

"Is that a damn dog?" Merle asked Daryl, who had paused to light a smoke stopped, just before the lighter touched the cigarette. Looking towards the house he sees the familiar white and black speckled fur, stained with red. "Son of bitch." He hisses, the lighter and cigarette hitting the ground as he raced to the house. Merle was confused but was fast on his brother's heels, they bust into the house and found it was quiet besides the sound of dishes clattering in the sink and water swishing. They share a look before entering the kitchen, there they spot their sister. Aspen stood at the sink with her back to them, washing dishes as their father sat at the table eating and drinking. Merle stayed in the doorway of the kitchen, watching his younger siblings as Daryl approached their sister like she was a spooked fawn. Daryl kept his voice gentle as he spoke "The hell happened?" She didn't face him, didn't make a sound, but he noticed how she scrubbed harder at the pan, chipping some of the coating. "I shot that damn dog."
