Vegas never really stayed in his father's mansion tho, brought up in Bangkok away from Chonburi, where their original castle is. Vegas is a big-city boy.
Pete is the grandson of a lowly servant in Vegas's father's so called 'empire' in Chonburi.
Pete gets a scholarship to study in Bangkok in the best college where only business tycoon and third generation chaebol, or people with royal lineage like Vegas gets to study.
Gun permits Pete to study in Bangkok, condition: he's to serve Vegas there, and report his activities to his father, aka a spy.
