Nezuko was walking back up the mountain the morning after she went to town to sell coal in place of her injured elder brother, Tanjiro, when she stumbled upon the smell of blood. Knowing her family home is close and the wretched smell came from the direction of it, Nezuko started sprinting to her house, a rush of anxiety passing through her.

When Nezuko saw the horrifying scene of Tanjiro and her youngest brother laying in the snow surrounded by blood, she sped up and fell to the ground next to her brothers. A moment later, she stood up and stumbled to the door of her house, where she found her entire family massacred.
