They say that you block out events and memories you are hurt by, things you don't want to believe to be true because if you believe them, then it makes it all the more real. Trauma and trust are hard to get by. You get hurt once, and it feels like it's over forever. There is no coming back. You are strong. You tough it out. The debilitating feelings of wanting and protecting yourself clash together, fighting for dominance. How can you convince yourself to let go when your mind is telling you otherwise?
