Every year the Asterian nobles choose 32 girls, eight from each class, for the Prince to consider to make his wife. With threats from warring Kingdoms, he decides to make this year's Chosen compete for his attention. The competition is to be broadcasted across the kingdom, and everyone became too enthralled with the new touch to an ancient tradition to realize the dangers lying in the political realm. Mariella came from a poor, lower class family. She had no knowledge of proper etiquette; she didn't even know people used different forks for different parts of their meals. Life of nobility had never interested her, so when she found herself on the list of chosen women from the lower class, she vowed to herself that she would leave as soon as she could. Mariella knew she couldn't stay even if she wanted to. Being in the spotlight was too dangerous for her. The world can never know her secret, for she believed she would be hunted and killed. A life of poverty was better than no life at all. Mariella is an inferno in every sense, a fiery woman with a fiery gift. It wasn't until she reached the castle that she realized she might not be the only one.

"You're a devil," she whispered, her voice raw and filled with a mix of anger and desire. Dimitrio chuckled, the sound deep and resonant, reverberating through her like a bass note in a symphony of seduction. "And aren't you this devil's heaven?," he breathed against her skin, his mouth moving to her neck, his teeth scraping lightly against her flesh. She shivered, her body responding to him. "Monster," she swore at him again, the word a whisper that held no real heat. Her voice was a tremble, a soft protest that was lost in the sea of passion that surrounded them. He chuckled, his eyes gleaming with triumph. "Call me whatever you want, as long as you come screaming my name." His voice was a dark promise, the arrogance in his tone sending a fresh wave of heat through her. *************** Under moon's dark veil, Princess shivers, devil grins.
