We did not kill the planet, we made it nearly uninhabitable. 

The few surviving societies of humanity begin to recover from an extinction level threat, but as their numbers grow they realize there isn't enough land to support them. In an attempt to solve this problem the "Expansion Project" is created. The Expansion Project is an attempt to rectify the population density issue by dispersing their people within livable underground spaces. With tons of materials harvested and living space growing every day, thus far, the project has been a solid success. 
Young excavator and engineer Peter McKenna is going about his business as usual. Leaving the towering streets of Littleton, New Colorado, as he and his co-workers descend fifteen kilometers down the mouth of the mine. He also taught him never to venture farther than their property because the world had become too dangerous with people fighting over water. As an adult, however, he finds himself alone. The home he once shared with his grandfather feels more like an empty shell with echoes of memories. Deciding to head for the road to visit a friend, he sets out to wander what's practically become a wasteland. Except, he soon discovers that since his last adventure north, Water Witchers are being captured and sold to high bidders by a group called The Hounds. |WATTYS 2022 WINNER - HORROR| Shawn, a convicted criminal, never thought she'd see the sun again, let alone call another star system her home. When she's offered an out from her prison sentence, she embarks on a dangerous interstellar expedition along with 18 of Earth's most intelligent criminals. Their task is to set up a base on a supposedly habitable planet and prepare it for colonization. Although the planet has liquid water and a breathable atmosphere, it is believed to host only microbial life. However, upon arriving, Shawn and the rest of the colonists learn that assumption was grossly incorrect. In a brutal attack from rampaging wildlife, everyone but Shawn and four other colonists are killed. The five survivors retreat to the cavernous network beneath the ground seeking safety, but they soon come to a terrible discovery. These caves aren't ordinary caves, and they are no safer down under than they were on the surface. [][][] This was originally my entry for the 2021 Open Novella Contest, and it received an honorable mention! It has now been expanded into a full length novel. I used prompt number 53: "When wildlife starts rampaging, all the humans are forced underground. However, they come to a terrible discovery that being underground is no safer than being on the surface."

(A 1 hour read - short story - completed) Young chemist Sinclair, works deep inside the human extermination complex of the State government A government that was always fighting in a world war. The planet was radiating, and getting unbearable. The pollution, fueled by the occasional use of mile wide micro-atomic nuclear strikes, gave urgency of your own coming death, so much so, it drove many quite batty. For relief, Sinclair took all the free government medications, keeping himself high but responsible at his government chemistry work. En-route now to Lightlake air base. He intended to derail his life once and for all. But first he'd do his part, he would render the master chemtrail formula into a harmless state. That should last at least a year, if not longer, if it went undetected. It was the noble thing to do he thought, considering the enormous ever-growing state body count. We join Sinclair now on the military passenger jet as he finds himself once again witnessing a murder. His closest colleague's murder. But for Sinclair... there would be a more intimate end-of-life experience.
