Orphans Annabelle and her little brother Oliver are fugitives, racing against another brother/sister duo for a safe spot in a school for kids against their modern government. Not far into their "race" both teams are whisked off into a flying ship filled with people much like themselves. They struggle to work their way through the hardships of their new lives, as this territory is much different than they're accustomed to. Initiation battles, weaponry, attacks from surrounding communities, and near death experiences daily show these kids that there are problems much bigger than simply their home planet. And they have to figure it out...before time runs out.
