summer wine - Sihtric Kjartansson

Ealdgyth is Mildrith's sister and thus closely involved in Uhtred Ragnarsson's affairs! Even though she does not always approve of what her brother-in-law does and who he upsets, she loves him dearly! He does her sister good and gave her a son!

Since the day her sister and Uhtred had married, she had lived with them and travelled wherever they went! She didn't grumble, because it was boring in Devon anyway! And under no circumstances did she want to be alone in a room with Odda the younger for more than 5 minutes!

So it came about that Ealdgyth lived with Uhtred and Mildrith in a small village near Winchester! It was beautiful there and there were animals everywhere! But when one day Uhtred and Leofric were called to battle and Ealdgyth and Mildrith were left alone, Ealdgyth feared bad things!

And it was only to get worse when Uhtred returned with another woman and introduced her as his 'Queen' and new wife! Ealdgyth had never been angrier with him than at that moment and before she knew it, her sister was gone and she was faced with a decision:

Should she stay or should she return to Devon with her sister as soon as possible?

She struggled with herself and with the thought of what was right and wrong! In the end she decided to go with her sister and leave Uhtred alone with his new wife!

It was the right decision and her sister was now free and happy! Ealdgyth was pleased to see this and she had almost forgotten Uhtred until one day he returned to Winchester with an abbess, a Saxon and 2 Danes!

Anger bubbled up in Ealdgyth, but as she and the young Dane travelling with Uhtred grew closer, she forgot all the hatred she felt towards Uhtred and wanted only one thing:

Spending as much time as possible with Sihtric!

Should she be granted this wish?

Or was she just imagining things and didn't want to hurt her sister who was so eagerly waiting to get her old life back?
