A princess overly-invested in bettering herself meets a traveling circus... this isn't your typical fairy tale!

Yui Wistaria lives a peaceful life. She has no massive achievements to speak of, unlike her elder siblings. Hiiro is taking on more and more duties, indicating a potential change of monarch soon. Hikari won a war of attrition against the odds and without assistance, making her the apple of the kingdom's eye.

Her three cousins are all decorated knights. Miho is particularly accomplished, living in the east as the empress of a massive militant empire.

When being compared to all of them, Yui stands out for being rather drab. Combined with her love for studying and personality of a wet blanket, she's known as the boring princess of Clarines.

But after a mishap with a faulty carriage door and her subsequent run in with the Happy Mask Circus, Yui's life is about to become a lot more colorful.

An expressionless princess, a fallen imperial prince, and a revolution... this isn't your typical fairy tale! Miho Wistaria is the second daughter of Shirayuki and Zen. She is well-renowned for her beauty, especially her ankle-length strawberry pink hair. But Miho has earned the nickname Doll Princess because she's been mute and has a rare form of self-imposed facial paralysis that's left her unable to express emotion for most of her life. Miho wants to change, but she can't do it alone. That's where Aoi Fujimiya comes into play. He's a prince, sure, but no Prince Charming. Aoi is known as Demon for his blood-red eyes. His uncle killed his father and took the throne; now Aoi is next on the hit list. Forced to flee for his life and leave his empire in the hands of a war-crazed murderer, Aoi wants to take back everything he's lost. And he needs help. Aoi and Miho meet while running away from their problems. Neither wants to run away anymore, so they agree to help each other: Aoi will help Miho ditch the flat affect and Miho will join Aoi in starting a civil war to take back his rightful place as emperor. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Now part of a trilogy! A princess with weak lungs in a territory surrounded by enemies... this isn't your typical fairy tale! Hikari Wistaria is the eldest daughter of Izana and Haki Wistaria, the King and Queen of Clarines. She's been treated like an ice sculpture her entire life; handle her too much and she'll disappear. The rumors aren't completely without sustenance: if Hikari overexerts herself, her airways tighten and she'll break down in a coughing fit. After her father catches wind of a potential invasion from Cojaca, a neighboring kingdom to the northeast which has been amassing weapons as of late, Hikari is sent away for her own safety. While secretly traveling south, she catches wind of a Cojacan plot against the southeastern Clarines territory of Tai. Rather than continue to be babied her entire life, Hikari decides to step up and lead Tai instead of fleeing. Will she succeed in saving her people? Can she stay healthy long enough to see it through to the end? •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Supposed to be a sequel to Ningyō no Ohimesama, but can be read as a stand-alone if you wish.
