Welcome to the known world of The Nine Oceans! Watch out for pirates, prophecies, bandits and politics. Please, don't concern yourself with what lives under the D'Vialle manor. And always, always remember to keep your actions out of the workings or you'll find yourself on the wrong side of The Ladies. Better to keep safe and above the wet instead of swimming seven draughts down, don't you think?
This massive story is told from multiple viewpoints and is one part swashbuckling, one part steampunk, and one part all smashed together of romance, adventure, sci-fi / fantasy, and revenge. Updates will be inconsistent because I'm still writing the final half (possibly the final two thirds) as well as polishing and settling finished chapters into the right places in the timeline.
Content warning: I'll put CW's at the start of each chapter, as needed, and in general you can expect foul language, violence, sex, trauma and fear.

"That's something I would need to experience for myself then," Marissa said. "It's possible," Rhys said. "Was that an offer," Marissa asked. Ayda is a girl living in a world where, the second you're born, you are born with a prophecy that explains the main course your life will take. And biggest of all, there is a prophecy of a hero who will come from another world to save their's. He hasn't come yet, but everyone is waiting. Ayda is 17, and living on the streets with a 13 year old boy named Rio. Scared of dying from starvation, she asks a lone sailor if she and Rio can travel on his boat with him, and travel around the nearby Islands, which are filled with creatures of all kinds, like sea creatures and giants. Very quickly the trio get a job trying to collect seven treasures, and Ayda is more than happy to do it since it will help repay the sailor who (begrudgingly) let them live on his boat. But while this trio doesn't get along at first, as they travel the world, they start to like and depend on each other. Which is exactly what they'll need to do when their world that originally only suggested you listen to your prophecy suddenly starts turning against those that don't. The only problem is, Ayda doesn't want to listen to her prophecy. Because if she does, she's destined to die..Complete

Lured by a tune like a fish to a hook, hungry for a dream. But what if that dream comes at a cost more hefty than coin? What if the price cuts as deep as the song, And soaks your hands redder than the ledger you're desperate to fill. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Since the first siren sighting, people have told tales of their dangers, warning Sailors to be wary of their bewitching songs, lest they lead them early to a dark Watery grave. Only a fool would leave his ears open to a Sirens song, or so many have been told, until Whispers of magic stranger and more enticing came, rumors of miracles and medicine made possible if you were brave enough to face the seas to claim a Sirens scales. Since the rising tide of such tales, the seas became far quieter, as rich choruses of song were sharply silenced, and the ocean itself became even more vicious with fury at its children being hunted. Hunted by Scholars thirsty for forbidden wisdom. Hunted by merchants greedy for more bloodstained wealth. Hunted by soldiers, clad in royal colors, setting out by the thousands to collect for their king. A queen cries out to the ocean for help. For a hero to save her children. And the ocean sends no hero. The ocean sends pirates. The ocean sends those who once fled from the sound of Sirens songs, now singing choruses of their own, brandishing scales of silver and steel, hungering for things greater than gold. They want glory. They want blood. They want revenge. They want a kings head.

10,000 years in the future, humanity has long since inhabited a region of space simply known as the "Habitable Zone of the Milky Way," or simply the "Habitable Zone." Many advancements have been made, though many are irrelevant to the billions - or perhaps more - of souls scattered across space. Everything operates under the silent, vague, but present scrutiny of the gods, with thaumaturgic talents dominating many human cultures in some capacity. Churches reign over the post-Altarum territories a century after the Silence. The World, at least as far as many within the Habitable Zone are concerned, is a cold, thoughtless plane of existence. It is within a single vessel, known as the CSS Groundskeeper, do things begin to influence the "Things To Be," as labeled by followers of the pantheon. Within this ship, two individuals will face the beginning of what is to be unimaginable horrors within an unforgiving universe, both with the same goal: do not succumb to the darkness. Trepidation: Act I is the first story in what is to be a much longer novel detailing the story of two individuals in the cold universe. Act I may contain disturbing content for some readers.
